GoDaddy CEO Aman Bhutani sent the e-mail below to GoDaddy employees February 8, 2023, announcing that GoDaddy is planning to scale back the scale of its global team by about 8%.
Inside the following hour, impacted team members will receive a gathering invite from their leadership to learn the small print of their transition, aligned with local employment processes.
Team,
Today, we’re announcing a plan to scale back the scale of our global team by about 8%. This can come as difficult news for a lot of valued and revered GoDaddy team members.
To begin, I need to specific my gratitude to those that will likely be leaving. You played a crucial part in our journey and helped entrepreneurs all over the world achieve their dreams and construct successful microbusinesses. Daily, you made a difference for purchasers and your teammates. While our paths diverge today, I wish you well and hope our paths cross again.
Inside the following hour, impacted team members will receive a gathering invite from their leadership to learn the small print of their transition, aligned with local employment processes. These meetings will mostly occur today, with some going down tomorrow morning locally. Most impacted roles are within the U.S., affecting multiple levels in the corporate and each division.
The planned impacts also include ongoing work to more deeply integrate three of our brands – Media Temple, Fundamental Street Hub and 123 Reg – into GoDaddy.
- Media Temple customers and team members are already aware of the transition to GoDaddy infrastructure as we work to sunset the brand, and team members will receive a gathering invite today to elucidate the trail forward for them.
- Fundamental Street Hub customers and team members are aware of the continuing transition of Fundamental Street Hub customers to GoDaddy products. As we proceed the migration, we’ll share updates with team members by March 1, 2023.
- 123 Reg will proceed as a customer-facing brand and take full advantage of what GoDaddy offers by way of technology and capabilities. Some roles in 123 Reg might not be required longer-term and we’ll notify any impacted team members by March 1, 2023.
In the course of the last yr, we worked hard to deliver value for our customers and results for GoDaddy. Despite increasingly difficult macroeconomic conditions, we made progress on our 2022 strategic initiatives and continued our efforts to administer costs effectively. The discipline we embraced was vital but, unfortunately, it was not sufficient to avoid the impacts of slower growth in a chronic, uncertain macroeconomic environment.
Over the following couple of days, we’ll focus our time and a spotlight on thanking and saying goodbye to those leaving GoDaddy. We’ll offer each of them a transition package, according to local laws and customs. Within the U.S., this may include 12 weeks of paid administrative leave with continued core advantages coverage. As well as, departing team members will likely be eligible for 2 additional weeks of severance per yr worked (with a minimum of 4 weeks), prolonged healthcare advantages, in addition to outplacement and immigration support to assist with their transition.
In our Town Hall tomorrow, we’ll share more context on these changes. In the approaching weeks, we’ll come together to speak about our 2023 strategic initiatives and our path forward to proceed to empower entrepreneurs all over the place.
