The Future of Internet Names and Addresses: A Discussion with a Business Expert

Date:

We had a pleasure to interview a domaining expert, who chose to remain anonymous.

Expert: Thank you for having me today to talk about the future of internet names and addresses. It’s a fascinating topic, and one that’s important to consider as we look ahead to the next 20 years.

NameMyCompany: I’m really curious to know what you think the future holds. Do you think that internet domains and websites are here to stay, or do you see an alternative emerging?

Expert: Well, there’s no doubt that the internet has fundamentally changed the way we live and work, and I think that trend is only going to continue. As we move forward, it’s likely that we’ll see more and more businesses operating online, and that means that the demand for internet names and addresses will only continue to grow.

NameMyCompany: But do you think that there’s an alternative to the current system of internet domains and websites? I mean, is there a way to make it easier for people to find what they’re looking for online without having to remember a domain name or website address?

Expert: That’s a great question. One possibility is that we’ll see a shift towards more intuitive, user-friendly interfaces that make it easier to find what you’re looking for without having to remember a specific web address. For example, we might see more businesses using apps or chatbots to interact with customers, rather than relying on a traditional website.

NameMyCompany: So you think that apps and chatbots will replace websites?

Expert: I don’t necessarily think that they’ll replace websites entirely, but I do think that they’ll become more important as we move forward. With the rise of artificial intelligence and machine learning, we’re seeing more and more companies develop sophisticated chatbots that can interact with customers in a more natural way. And as these technologies continue to improve, it’s likely that we’ll see more businesses shift towards these types of interfaces.

NameMyCompany: But what about the domain name system? Do you think that’s here to stay?

Expert: I think that the domain name system will continue to play an important role in how we navigate the internet, but it’s possible that we’ll see some changes in the way that domain names are registered and managed. For example, we might see more companies using blockchain technology to manage their domain names, which could make the process more secure and transparent.

NameMyCompany: That’s really interesting. So you think that blockchain technology will play a big role in the future of internet names and addresses?

Expert: It’s definitely a possibility. Blockchain technology has the potential to revolutionize many aspects of the internet, including how we manage domain names and website addresses. By using a decentralized system, we could make the process more secure and less susceptible to fraud or hacking.

NameMyCompany: Wow, that’s really fascinating. So do you think that businesses need to start thinking about these changes now, or is it still too early?

Expert: I think that it’s never too early to start thinking about the future. As the internet continues to evolve, businesses will need to adapt and change in order to stay relevant. By keeping an eye on emerging technologies and trends, companies can position themselves for success in the years to come.
