Escrow.com reports domain sales rebound in Q1

Date:

The aftermarket is back.

Aftermarket domain name sales rebounded sharply in Q1 this year, according to Escrow.com.

The company reported that overall payment volume at Escrow.com was AU $268.6 million. That’s down 5% compared to the first quarter of last year but up 47% compared to Q4 2022. It’s the best quarter since Q2 2022. (Note the chart above is in USD.)

While Escrow.com handles more than just domain transactions, the company said domain names were the driving force of the upswing.

This echoes what Escrow.com CEO Matt Barrie said on the Domain Name Wire Podcast a couple of weeks ago.

Notably, the company handled the eight-figure transaction for chat.com as well as the sales of prompt.com and newyork.com.
